The difference between a Wax and a Paint Correction

A paint correction is designed to remove surface imperfections such as scratches, spotting, etching, holograms, and minor oxidation. Polishes work with abrasives and chemical cleaners to flatten or level the surface.  Each polishes are more aggressive than others and work differently. Polishes are not designed to add protection to the vehicle’s paint surface.  They are designed to correct the paint.  For example, a scratch in the clear coat can reflect light from its microscopic edges. That’s what makes it stand out from the surrounding area.  A professional polish can smooth out, or level, the edges; reducing the amount of light the scratch reflects. In many cases, a polish can completely remove minor surface scratches and other imperfections to make the car’s paint look new, or, even better than new!  So if you’re vehicle is starting to look dull and is loosing its shine, a paint correction would definitely restore its luster.

A wax is designed to enhance and protect a previously polished surface.  The wax serves as a clear, shiny protective layer between the elements and the clear-coat that has been applied over the paint on your car.  It fills in very tiny microscopic pores in the clear-coat and will help them shine to near-showroom brightness. Car wax is a non-abrasive coating that usually contains Carnauba and other waxes. It is applied after washing your vehicle and dries to a thin, milky-white layer when applied correctly and is then buffed or wiped off with a microfiber towel.  The protection is essential to keep airborne pollutants, road film, acid rain, and other contaminants from sticking to the surface of the paint sealant, causing potentially long term damage. At times you will notice a vehicle that has no shine, rain water will just sit on the vehicle without beading. Also with time the vehicle begins to peal and paint begins to rust. This is because of neglect from the vehicle’s owner.  Regular waxing, is necessary to keep the shine and beauty of your car.
